C Ath Orsay vs BRFC

Difficult game this one, little or no training over the frozen period and a hell of a journey and balls up in pre-match preparation didn't give us the best set up for what we knew would be a difficult game.

And it looked like a thumping was on the cards when from our own mistakes we let them in for two soft tries in the first 15 minutes.

One thing this BRFC team does have is a backbone and when it would have been so easy to crumble and take a hiding we turned it around and slowly pulled ourselves back into the game.

The pitch was a swamp, and we really had no alternative but to pin them back with kicks and good chasing from the midfield and wingers, and although we again let them in for a try just before half time a complete shut out and domination of the opponents in the second half followed.

It's never good to be happy with a loss, but it was a good game to play in, everyone put in the effort in very difficult circumstances and gave a good account of ourselves, it was an almost unplayable pitch where the game seemed to unfold in slow motion, running was difficult, passing even more so.

Even so a lot of guys had good games, Brian and Charles in the centre were excellent in both defence and attack, yYan, Yashushi, Jin, Dan and Austen all played really well both in attack and defence, the pack really played well, Jon and Fred dominating the lineout and our pack winning everything in the second half, Ned and the back row getting about the pitch and turning over a much bigger back row.

But ultimately we just left it too late to turn up, if we'd started as we'd played the second half we could have been looking at a win.

Not much else to say other then Austen was man of the match at 15, covering well in defence, and a handful in attack he pretty much epitomised the second half performance.

But Guys, the one thing that is abundantly clear after this weeks game is the need to get some training in. We're fit enough, and we're a good enough team to cause anyone serious problems, the thing we lacked on Saturday was cohesion that only comes form training.

We have three very difficult games left to play, please make the effort to get to training this week, the rest of our season is entirely in our own hands, and there is a lot to build on.

Well done guys,
